Polling rate test
Move your mouse in fast circles over the area. We'll estimate how often it reports.
How the test works
How it's measured
We time the gaps between pointer events while the mouse moves and take the median. Chrome and Edge offer raw pointer updates, which get closest to the device's real rate.
Why it's an estimate
Browsers may combine events to match the display, and power-saving can slow things down. The reading can be lower than your mouse's setting, never meaningfully higher.
What your results mean
Around 125 Hz
The default for many office mice. Fine for everyday use.
500–1000 Hz
Typical gaming mice.
Capped near your refresh rate
Your browser is merging events. Try Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Questions
What polling rate should I use?
1000 Hz is the common gaming default. Higher rates can feel smoother on high-refresh screens but use more CPU and battery.
Why does Firefox or Safari show a lower number?
They don't expose raw pointer updates, so events arrive at most once per display frame.
