Why AirPods and Bluetooth mics sound bad on calls
When you use a Bluetooth headset's microphone, it usually switches from high-quality music mode to a hands-free mode that carries audio both ways at much lower quality. Both your voice and what you hear get muffled. The test above flags this when it sees a low sample rate.

Stappen
- 1
Use a different microphone
Keep listening on your Bluetooth headphones but pick your laptop's built-in mic or a USB mic as the input. Your headphones stay in high-quality mode.
- 2
Use a headset with a USB dongle
Headsets that connect through their own USB receiver don't have this limitation.
- 3
Check for wideband or LE Audio support
Newer headsets and computers support better call codecs (wideband speech, LE Audio). Update your system and headset firmware.
- 4
Go wired for important calls
A wired headset avoids Bluetooth compression entirely.
Werkt het nog steeds niet?
- On Windows, a Bluetooth headset can appear twice: once for stereo audio and once as "Hands-Free". Choosing the stereo device for output and another mic for input avoids the switch.
