Backlight bleed and IPS glow explained
LCD screens use a backlight behind the panel. Light that leaks around the edges is backlight bleed. IPS glow is a sheen that changes with viewing angle. Test in a dim room with the black screen above.

Mulai dengan tes singkat
Langkah
- 1
Test at your normal brightness
Maximum brightness in a pitch-black room exaggerates bleed far beyond normal use. Use your everyday settings.
- 2
Move your head
If a glow shifts or changes as you move, it's IPS glow, a property of the panel type. If it stays fixed at the edges, it's bleed.
- 3
Check with real content
Watch a dark film scene or play a dark game. If you don't notice it then, it's within normal variation.
- 4
Return or claim if it's severe
Bleed that's obvious in normal use may qualify for a return within your retailer's window or a warranty claim.

- OLED screens have no backlight, so they can't bleed. Look for uneven dark greys instead.
