The F310 has a mode switch on the back. In X mode it behaves like an Xbox-style controller; D mode reports differently.

Wrong mode
If buttons don't match the diagram, check the switch is on X.
Mode button
The Mode button swaps the left stick and D-pad. If the stick moves the D-pad, press Mode.
